Exactly how often the timepieces from Hermle have already struck the hour all over the world is hard to assess, but one thing is certain:
Floor clocks, wall clocks, table clocks, ship's clocks and regulators from Hermle enjoy an outstanding international reputation.
The foundation stone for today's traditional brand was laid in 1922 by Franz Hermle marking the start of the company Franz Hermle & Sohn in Gosheim. In 1930 it was already one of the most modern clock production sites in the region, and even after the war the high standard was retained. Alongside the production and distribution of many different types of large clock, there was a focus on the production of mechanical clockworks for other clock manufacturers from the very start.
High accuracy and the perfect precision of every single component have always been distinctive features of Hermle clocks and mechanical clockworks. In the 1970s this led to the addition of an additional business field: CNC longitudinally turned parts and gearing components. The latter were no longer produced solely for the company's own requirements but for other sectors as well, including the automotive industry, the mechanical engineering sector and the electrical engineering industry. Furthermore in Reichenbach, not far from Gosheim, production of quartz movements began - rounding off the product range in the lower price segment.
In 1977 today's Hermle Uhrenmanufaktur had a second factory built - in Amherst, Virginia, USA. Just one year later, in 1978, Rolf Hermle took over as CEO, marking the third generation of the founding family. He is currently responsible for all three divisions of the company; Hermle Uhrenmanufaktur, Hermle Mechanische Uhrwerke and Hermle Drehteile.
And time doesn't stand still at Hermle: each year, in its clocks catalogue, the Uhrenmanufaktur presents several new models in addition to its timeless masterpieces. In the best of tradition, the range extends from floor clocks and wall clocks to table clocks, ship's clocks and regulators.
